A Slight Acknowledgement

automatic response
a recited repetition self taught
in a story that always began
It never ends;
Mojave sands
dressed for death
in desert outlands

Taken to the final end
with fatal grips
trying tired hands
the seas of I and you
have melted into one
you held the key,
and I took the joke
in a slight acknowledgment
of pure anomalies awoke
barely lacking true sympathy

I swear it was still alright
although we know you don’t care
“your own pretentious, cold hard stares”
all in all the summation was fair
I didn’t go out much,
just to get somewhere

so, there
we were
still snorting lines,
Landmark’s second floor
